After pick-up, we travel to Houghton exploring the Northern suburbs of Johannesburg along the way, upon arrival we stop for a photo opportunity overlooking Johannesburg from the top. We proceed with our tour to learn more about South Africa Democracy at Constitutional Hill where you will be guided by the site representative. We drive past Mandela Bridge which is known to be the fourth of five bridges crossing the railway line; linking Braamfontein and Newtown business areas. Discover the gold history at Main Street for an hour of guided Mining District tour and continue with Gold Mine Tour at Gold Reef City conducted by the site-local guide. We further learn and experience Soweto culture and its current developments with visits to Hector Peterson and Vilakazi Street known as the “Beverly Hills of Soweto” home to Mandela House and Bishop Desmond Tutu. We end our tour at Kliptown with a visit to Walter Sisulu Square and Informal Settlement getting to interact with the locals.
