Visit Vilkazi Street well-known for the two Nobel-Prize winners, the late Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, visit the Nelson Mandela House where he spent a couple of nights upon his release after 27 years of imprisonment with his late former wife Winnie Mandela.

Great tourguide made up for closedown of some of the attractions
We loved our tourguide and his knowledge about the history of Johannesburg, Soweto and Apartheid. Nonetheless we would have loved to the the Apartheidmuseum and the Top of Africa which were still closed (COVID-19). If these are of great importance, check whether they will have reopened prior to your tour. Our guide really made up for their closures by showing us Soweto even more intensively.
