Itinerary:

Day 1: Welcome to Madikwe Game Reserve

Upon arrival at OR Tambo International Airport proceed to check-in for your connecting flight to Madikwe Game Reserve as per your arrangements TBC. Arrive at Madikwe East Airstrip, the lodge representative will welcome guests and transfer them to Madikwe Safari Lodge and check-in for 3 nights on a fully inclusive basis. After settling in, enjoy lunch before we depart for our first safari game experience. Traverse is a malaria-free Big 5 safari game reserve covering 75 000 hectares of free-roaming wildlife. During the drive guests will have a photographic safari opportunity with the help of the guide, taking you to a perfect location for amazing safaris photos. We return to the lodge for a private dinner under the stars. Thereafter enjoy the rest of the night as we prepare for the morning game drive or bush walk.

Day 2 & 3: Madikwe Game Reserve

Early morning wake-up call approximately 05:00 am during summer and 05:30 am in winter seasons. Enjoy rusks, biscuits, coffee, and tea before we depart for our drive. We depart for a 3-hour morning game drive or a bush walk with a professional ranger guide. Thereafter, we return to the lodge for breakfast at leisure and enjoy recommend activities offered at the lodge, game viewing at the active watering hole in front of the camp; archery or fishing; bush walks; Spa treatments; a fully-equipped fitness center. After lunch, we proceed to our afternoon safari activity. Return to the lodge for dinner at the boma area depending on the weather or restaurant

Day 4: Depart Madikwe Game Reserve for Pilanesberg National Park

Early morning wake-up call approximately 05:00 am during summer and 05:30 am in winter seasons. Enjoy rusks, biscuits, coffee, and tea before we depart for our drive. We depart for a 3-hour morning game drive or a bush walk with a professional ranger guide. Thereafter, we return to the lodge for breakfast and check-out. Your driver/guide will collect guests for a road transfer to Pilanesberg National Park. Upon arrival, check-in at Lush Private Lodge for 3 nights’ fully inclusive and after lunch. We proceed for our 3-hour game drive as we will traverse over 12,000 hectares of the big-5 game country, with lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo as well as other species such as wild dogs, cheetah, kudu, zebra, warthog, giraffe, and monkey namely. Bird viewing is spectacular, with over 360 recorded species including various eagles, vultures, kingfishers, woodpeckers, buzzards, herons, egrets, owls, weavers. Keep your cameras ready for the elusive leopard who may be hiding in a tree or the roaring lion seeking out its prey in the bush. Return to the lodge for private dinner on a private deck overlooking the wild plains, the rest of the night at leisure for an early morning safari game.

Day 5 & 6: Pilanesberg National Park

Early morning wake-up call approximately 05:00 am during summer and 05:30 am in winter seasons. Enjoy rusks, biscuits, coffee, and tea before we depart for our drive. We will traverse over 12,000 hectares of the big-5 game country, with lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo as well as other species such as wild dogs, cheetah, kudu, zebra, warthog, giraffe, and monkey namely. Bird viewing is spectacular, with over 360 recorded species including various eagles, vultures, kingfishers, woodpeckers, buzzards, herons, egrets, owls, weavers. Keep your cameras ready for the elusive leopard who may be hiding in a tree or the roaring lion seeking out its prey in the bush. However, experience the wildlands on foot with a morning bush safari with a professional tracker. Return to the lodge and we are welcomed with a warm towel for our full breakfast. Enjoy the rest of the after at leisure, optional activities in-house reptile demonstrations, bush golf, and Climbing walls. After lunch, we depart for an afternoon game drive, thereafter return for the African boma dinner experience.

Day 7: Depart Pilanesberg National Park for Johannesburg

Early morning wake-up call approximately 05:00 am during summer and 05:30 am in winter seasons. Enjoy rusks, biscuits, coffee, and tea before we depart for our drive. We will traverse over 12,000 hectares of the big-5 game country, with lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo as well as other species such as wild dogs, cheetah, kudu, zebra, warthog, giraffe, and monkey namely. Bird viewing is spectacular, with over 360 recorded species including various eagles, vultures, kingfishers, woodpeckers, buzzards, herons, egrets, owls, weavers. Keep your cameras ready for the elusive leopard who may be hiding in a tree or the roaring lion seeking out its prey in the bush. However, experience the wildlands on foot with a morning bush safari with a professional tracker. Return to the lodge and we are welcomed with a warm towel for our full breakfast. Thereafter, check out and depart back to Johannesburg. Upon arrival, check-in at DaVinci Hotel and Spa for 2 nights on a bed and breakfast basis. The rest of the afternoon at leisure exploring Sandton City Shopping Centre. Thereafter, enjoy dinner at the hotel restaurant and overnight rest.

Day 8:  Afternoon Soweto and Johannesburg Tour

After breakfast, you will be collected at the hotel by your driver guide for an afternoon tour of Soweto and Johannesburg. Our journey begins at Soweto exploring the struggles of the apartheid regime. During this tour, guests will get a taste of the vibrant lifestyle of Soweto and Johannesburg. Visit the Hector Pieterson Museum and Memorial, at this site, a share of apartheid history during the times of the Soweto Uprising in 1976. Processed downwards to Vilakazi Street mostly known for its Nobel-prize winners and the abundance of restaurants as well as entertainment by the locals, visit the Mandela House where he spent his first few nights after his release from prison. Thereafter, enjoy dinner at Lebo’s Backpackers offering African traditional cuisines and get to taste African Beer. We will proceed the rest of the afternoon driving through Johannesburg to drop-off at the hotel.

Day 9: Depart Johannesburg

After breakfast, your driver/guide will collect guests for an airport transfer to OR Tambo International Airport.
