Day 1: Soweto City Safe Tour with Apartheid Museum
After pick-up, we depart on a journey to discover Soweto and
Johannesburg with our experienced local guide offering sightings at Hector
Peterson Museum, Vilkakazi Street, Kliptown, Apartheid Museum. During our
sightings, we view FNB Stadium also known as Soccer City in Nasrec built
carrying a great element of “Calabash or African Pot” located in Nasrec out of
Soweto. We continue to stop for a photo opportunity at the “Welcome to Soweto”
sign in Diepkloof. As we proceed through Diepkloof expensive houses known by
the locals as “Diepkloof Expensive”, we encounter a hostel build for Black Men
mostly populated by the Zulu tribe. The hostels still keep the old bricks that
were used to build houses in Soweto and pit latrines used by 5 families or
more. We continue driving past Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital was later
renamed in 1997 in honor of a hero struggle who fought alongside Nelson Mandela
for democratic change in South Africa. We head to Kliptown for a tour at Walter
Sisulu Square and have a view at the Informal Settlement conducted by a local
resident guide.
Day 2: Harties Panorama Views and Lion Park Safari Drive
After pick-up, we travel to Hartbeespoort Dam with your
driver-guide to explore the panorama views and a house built upside down,
finally a safari drive. We drive on the famous Hartbeespoort Dam was built in
1921 and was the largest dam in the Southern Hemisphere in that era. The dam
wall stands 149.5 meters long and 59.4 meters high, built cutting through
Magaliesberg. Our first stop will be at Harties Cableway where guests will have
an overview of Magaliesberg, Hartbeespoort, and surrounding areas. As you travel
to the top, you will encounter a nature reserve from your bird’s eye view and
spot giraffes, zebras, and antelopes. Upon reach choose to dine at a number of
restaurants or have a drink at the Lookout Bar offering a view of the eastern
region. However, take a stroll along “The Dassie Walk” a 1200-meter walkway.
After the amazing experience takes the cable car back down. We proceed to the
Upside Down House, with all the furniture inside above your head. Explore the
house as guests are allowed to take images and spend some leisure time in the
house. Finally, we stop at Lion Park, for a 3-hour safari drive in a 4x4
vehicle conducted by an experienced park ranger/guide. After the game drive, guests can opt for Giraffe Feeding or purchase local African art, crafts,
