Day-by-Day Itinerary
Fly from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit, where you are met and driven to Royal Malewane in the Thornybush Reserve. Each suite has antique furnishings, a heated plunge pool and a gazebo overlooking the bush. Your private guide takes you on a first evening drive.
Royal Malewane employs some of South Africa's most respected trackers. Spend the morning following fresh spoor on foot and by vehicle to find rhino, lion and elephant. The afternoon is for the Africa House spa, followed by a private dinner served on your deck.
Plan your day around your interests: a bush breakfast, a photographic session or a long afternoon nap before an extended night drive. Sundowners are set up on an open plain with a view of the Drakensberg escarpment. Dinner is a multi-course feast in the boma.
A short charter flight takes you to Ulusaba in the western Sabi Sands. Rock Lodge sits on a granite koppie with sweeping views across the reserve. Your afternoon drive targets the area's leopards and prides.
The western Sabi Sands is known for leopard, lion and large elephant herds. Mornings and evenings are spent on drives with your private guide, while afternoons are for the clifftop pool or the spa. A private dinner in the bush closes the day.
Choose from a sunrise walk, a visit to the local community school supported by the lodge, or an afternoon of archery and bush skills. Your farewell dinner is served on the rock terrace under the stars. Lions often call in the distance as the evening ends.
After your final morning drive and breakfast, a private charter flies you back to Johannesburg for your onward journey.
