Day-by-Day Itinerary
Fly from Wilson to the lodge-serving airstrip and transfer to Angama Mara. From the escarpment, the plains seem to continue beyond the horizon. Meet your guide to discuss photography, wildlife interests and the reserve rules that shape each drive. If time permits, descend for a first afternoon in the Triangle.
Set out early for the Triangle, scanning the grass for movement and listening for alarm calls near the woodland. Follow resident lion activity from authorised tracks, leaving animals room to move. Lunch and rest at the lodge break up the day before another drive; the return is timed to comply with reserve closing hours.
Take a picnic for a longer exploration of the river sector when herds are nearby. Your guide selects a lawful viewpoint and waits rather than pursuing animals towards a crossing. If the migration is elsewhere, explore the Triangle for resident cats, elephant and birdlife. The season determines the emphasis, not the quality of attention.
A guided walk on the escarpment focuses on plants, tracks and the wider landscape, subject to conditions and the lodge programme. This is not a walking safari inside the reserve. Return to camp for an unhurried lunch and an afternoon drive, or remain on the deck to watch weather move across the plains.
Choose a longer photographic drive or two shorter outings with a midday pause. A balloon flight can be quoted separately and arranged in place of the morning drive when weather and availability allow. Return from the afternoon outing before closing time; there is no night drive included from this lodge.
Enjoy breakfast with one last look over the Triangle. Depending on your flight time, a brief final drive may be possible before the airstrip transfer. Fly to Wilson Airport and continue with separately arranged Nairobi transfers or a coastal extension, allowing a sensible connection buffer.
