Chobe National Park is the second biggest National Park & is located in the north-west of Botswana, shares border with Zambia, Zimbabwe & Namibia’s Caprivi Strip. Chobe has the largest population of elephants in Africa & they are also mostly visible during the dry seasons gathering the water sources in Chobe River, as well as the other hundred species. Chobe is divided into four regions which include Chobe riverfront which concentrates on the great wildlife & birds, Savuti is compressed with grasslands & rich in vegetation, Linyanti swamps located north & east of Chobe National Park, however, Linyanti borders Caprivi Strip.
Chobe became popular in the 19th century with European hunters to shoot the big game, however, the San bushmen where the first inhabitants also are known as the Basarwa, the San bushmen moved around the park for food & water & on this current day you will still find the San paints inside rocky hills of the park. The bushmen where encourage to shoot far as usual for the exchange of goods, upon the division created by the colonial late in the century. The majority of the area was then classified as the Chobe National Park & an idea came about of promoting tourism to the region of Chobe, & protecting the wildlife in 1931.
